With that being said, there is always need to compress the file size to a manageable size. In this article, I will show you how to compress PDF on Mac for a smaller size.
How to Compress a PDF on Mac
The process of compressing PDF files with PDFelement for Mac is simple and professional. With this tool, you will be able to choose the compression rate, preview the outcome and save the PDF files. To begin with, download this software and install it on your computer. After that, you can go through the following steps.
Step 1. Open a Large PDF in PDFelement for Mac
Launch PDFelement for Mac on your Mac. On the program window, click on the "Open File" button at the bottom right and select the large PDF file that you want to compress. Another way of uploading the PDF file is clicking on "File" and then choose "Open" icon. If you had recently opened the file, then click on "Open Recent" option.
Step 2. Choose Compression Rate
To compress the file, click on "File" on the main menu. Select "Optimize PDF" from the drop down menu. On the compression window, go to options and click on "Arrow-Down" button. A list of compression rate will appear such as 50 dpi low quality, 50 dpi average quality, etc. Choose one that suits the quality of your PDF file. You can also click on any of them and preview to see the final result.
Step 3. Preview Result
After choosing the compression rate, you can now preview its outcome. Click on the "Preview" icon. The program will open the reduced file of the specified compression rate. Go through the PDF while checking its layout and images. If you are not satisfied with the outlook you can choose another compression rate and preview it again.
The beauty of this software is that, it displays the original file size, the new file size and the percentage of the file reduced. When you are satisfied with the results you can now click on "Save As" button.
Step 4. Save the Compressed PDF
On clicking on the "Save As" button, you will be able to rename the file and choose an output folder. After making the output settings correctly, you can now click on the "Save" button. The program will automatically compress your PDF file to the chosen compression rate.
